As the newest member of the Canadian Brass quintet and trumpet professor at the University of North Texas, it’s safe to say Caleb Hudson knows how to practice.
If you’ve got the COVID practice blues (and who doesn’t at this point), this video of 8 practice hacks in 3(!) minutes is for you.
Practice hacks include the obvious:
- Goal setting (here’s a good way to get goals if you don’t have any currently)
- Practice logs
- Tuner (he seems to like Tonal Energy(as do I, although I have several other options here.))
But also some interesting ones like a method of randomization for scales (although it could be applied to lots of things), looping apps (AnyTune), and even a “go-bag” of practice essentials.
